Big. Spread out. A city of many boroughs or neighbourhoods. Fascinating. More points of interest than you could ever see in one visit. I could not post nearly the number of photos I took. Disregard what anyone says about the 'dangers of Mexico D.F." and go visit it. Truly a fantastic place.

It all starts in the historic centre at the Plaza de la Constitución, the massive main square also known as the Zócalo. This is looking north to the Catedral Metropolitana. |
A beautiful house of tiles also near the Zocalo. Click to zoom in on photo to see the detail. |

Outside the Catedral Metropolitana a Japanese toursist poses for a photo in her white booties. (Note to self: why did I not pack my white booties?) |
Frida Kahlo's former home (now museum) in the lovely neighbourhood of Coyoacan. I did not go in and see it because of the line up which snaked down the street. |
I did visit the Soumaya Musuem, which is an absolutely amazing building and an impressive art collection including Rodins. |
My favourite photo of the trip. I call this "reflecting on wall washing" - Rodin's The Thinker at the Soumaya. |

A lovely quiet square in the Coyoacán borough. |
Selling Christmas trees in early December in Coyoacán . Trees may come from Canada - who knows? |

Impressive churches and cathedrals throughout Mexico. The Metropolitan does not disappoint. |

Huge pipe organ |

Near the Cathedral are entire malls that sell religious 'stuff'. I wonder what she is thinking - what to choose? |
To the west of the Zocalo is a wonderful, whimsical Museo de Arte Popular. Housed in an old fire house the top floor has balconies full of alebrijes |
Coyote alebrije |
A metre high church made completely of coloured sugar |
A cat like, fantastical alebrije |
The museum has a great collection of Dia de Muertos figures |
The workmanship on these terra cotta figures was impressive |
A rather fun little gathering. |

A turquoise (or is is jade?) mosaic done on terracotta is in the museum at Templo Mayor Aztec ruins. A must visit destination in Mexico D.F. |

It has exquisite detail. |
Mask of the devil from the Museum of Popular Art |
Huge, 6 feet tall, colourful tree of life. |
